Green/White/Checker in Cup? doesn't look like it, plus Trucks may lose it:....Rules in NASCAR's truck series do allow for a green-white-checkered flag finish, meaning a two-lap dash where a race can be extended so it will not end under caution. "At the Nextel Cup level, that rule would be a recipe for disaster," NASCAR Vice President Jim Hunter said. "That would be like dangling a piece of raw meat in front of a hungry lion." In fact, Hunter said that rule may now be re-evaluated for the truck series. "We'll probably wind up looking at doing away with that rule for the trucks," he said.(Alabama Live)(4-27-2004)

In my opinion, this is a rule that needs to be added to the cup series. This would get rid of the red flag/caution flag problem at the end of the race. This is one of the reasons I really liked the truck series and this was/is something that made it different. One thing that I don't get is why would this be a recipe for disaster in the cup series when a series with "lesser" skilled drivers has no problem with it?

I agree that it should be used in Cup, bu t I don't thikn it will ever happen.

The danging the carrot statement doesn't make sesne because it is not much different than letting them race 4 or 5 laps to the end after a red flag.

If you ask me it would eliminate the problem of worrying about something going wrong when the stop for a red falg, like so many of the crews and drivers say they worry about.

I heard Michael Waltrip say on Inside Nextel Cup that he did not want it because of how it could effect you by running more laps than you planned and maybe not having enough fuel. Well, the trucks don't seem to have a problem, in my opinon as long as you know that's a possibility going in you plan for it.

I also heard someone say that they should races at the advertised length. Well, I don't know about any of you, but if I paid to see 500 laps, or 500 miles, I wouldn't care if I got to see a few extra laps. They don't have a problem with calling them when it rains and you don't get to see the advertised length, and I would much rather get more than what I paid for than less.

I hope they don't take ith out of the truck series, and if they had any sense they would use it in all series.
