driveline squeak

ive got a 2001 2500HD CC 4X4 and at low speeds such as taking off from a stop there is a squeak comming from the driveshaft. the manual says use some #5786$^&^*5 lubricant on driveline and drivespline. has anyone else had this? do i take the driveshaft off and u-joints out and lube them all up? the slip yoke has a boot over it with metal bands closing it at each end. gotta cut those off and take all that off to lube that up as well or does anyone have an easier way to get this done?

TXD........Are you talking squeek or clunk when taking off from a

dead stop? How many miles do you have?

If its a squeeking noise its prob. a u-joint going bad. The factory

cheapies don't have a lube zerk anymore ! So they usually crap

out about 60k or even sooner if you tow heavy or snowplow !

I had the same noise coming from my driveshaft immediatly after I had my 6" lift installed. Drove me nuts because at first I though that the installers had left some loose bolts in the install. I finally had the driveshaft replacement put in for my 4x4 and it went away. Dont know why and sorry I dont have a better answer for you on how to fix it.

mine was squeeking it turned out to be the leaf spring bushings. i pulled them apart lubed them up and it went a way for about 6 months. im getting ready to replace with soem energy suspension geasabel bushings.

I just got my squeeky truck back from the dealer. They replaced the rear u joint and all is quiet again. It only squeeked under acceleration. It made no noise while coasting. My truck has 35k miles on it.

forgot to give all an update. 68,000+ miles on it. i took it in for the squeek and they said the slip yoke was binding and ruined the first u-joint. got both replaced under warranty. all is well again.
