Hypertech?

Hey all, I'm looking for a programmer for my 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3. I'm looking for the best, one that can do the most. One of my buddies has a 6.0 HD Chevy and he said he'd go in half with me if they'd work on both of our trucks. I have a buddy that has a hypertech and he said that it gave him more power through out the power band, but I've heard that there is another programmer on the market that is better that the hypertech. Can't remember the name though :D

Crane, Hypertech, and Granatelli all make programmers. I don't have any experience with them yet as I'm in the market myself. I do prefer these over the Westers as you can adjust your settings at will without swapping the whole computer and waiting for the boards to be sent. Beware though, at least one of these programmers has a feature that will make it unable to tune multiple vehicles without first returning the original to stock.

Custom tune is the ONLY way to go.. Tom at Tbyrne motorsports is offering 10% on Westers programming so you might be able to jump on that and save some money. Also check out Allen Nelson @ Nelson Performance Also on the handhelds both of you cannot use the same one. You would have to return your truck to stock in order to let your buddy use it.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I posted before we bought one. Well looks like I'm gonna save some money for a lift kit and then a westers. Thanks all.

Some handhelds are married to the VIN, so you couldn't sell it. You'll get better performance with a Wester's custom dyno tune then you will a handheld.

And with Wester's you get full purchase price credit when you change trucks towards a new tune for your new vehicle.

If your serious about performance and want the best, go Wester's.

My Hypertech Programmer works great but you have to return it to stock

before you can use for another vehicle.
