Avalanche/Onstar/GPS

I've got Onstar in my AV and was wondering if anyone knew if you could have the Onstar cell phone reprogramed to access your own cell service company.  Also, an aftermarket add-on display screen for the GPS.  hate to see that device go to waste.

Anybody got any thoughts?

I don't know for sure...  I do know my truck and my cell phone have the same area code and local exchange.  I wonder if OnStar is routing their calls through Verizon Wireless...
