Performance Air Intake Systems

I'm wondering if it is okay to get a performance air intake system (K&N, AirRaid, AEM, etc.) with the stock exhaust system? Or will it cause back pressure? :banghead:

It's fine...I used the UPD (NSV) intake on my Avalanche before I bought the Corsa exhaust...air intake is just one step in the modding staircase...exhaust is another...and so on...and so on...AND SO ON!!!

The only real time you need to worry about your exhaust velocity is when you add an exhaust with an overly large diameter tubing. If your tubing is too big, then the exhaust velocity is too great if you are using the stock manifold. If you run some long tube headers, coupled with a dual exhaust of, say 2.5" tubing, you'd be fine. If you plan on sticking with your stock manifolds, then you can do either a single system of 2.5" or go with a dual exhaust system of 2.25" and you will see no probs. Remember, there is a difference between a true dual system (2 separate cats, mufflers, etc...) and a Y pipe system that splits off of the cat into 2 mufflers.
