Spray in Bed Liners

Just wondering what people thought of spray in bed liners? I'm looking at both the Line-X and the Rhino Lining. I'm also looking at doing it over the rail as well for added protection. The Line-x is more like sand paper with a cleaner looking finish where the Rhino is more of a rubberized coating and shiny. The truck is only used for throwing the odd item in the back, not for hauling gravel or anything like that. Does anyone have opinions on either, good or bad.

I have a LineX (under the rails but am planning on putting caps on over them) and it works great. I had a pallet with close to 2000lbs of of bedding pellets on it and it didn't even have a mark on it. I may add a rubber stall mat (4x6x3/4") to cushion things tho.

I just had the Line-X liner installed because I got a deal through work. However, I am of the opinion that you can't go wrong with either the Line-X or the Rhino. My buddy has had the Rhino on two of his trucks and it held up and functioned without a flaw! Shop around a little for a good price. I found that most of the dealers will drop the price a little. I also found out that you can usually get a better deal if you can find one or two (or more) other friends to get their's done at the same time.

I read a post saying that the warranty on the Rhino was only from the dealer that installed it while the Line-X was from any dealer across the country.

 

Something else to consider.

Line-X on my truck and it has held up great. How do Line-X and Rhino compare in cost?

I have Line-X, over the rail in my truck and love it. It's tough as hell, and easy to stand on when wet... loading my motorcycle or whatever.

 

It's really easy to clean (just spray off) and looks good!

I thought I posted here before...hmm....Anyways Line-X all the way, I had mine sparyed on my truck a little after a week after purchasing my truck.

 

 

 

Well worth it because a long time ago there was a comparission between rhino and linex. They took 2 beds off the same truck, one was coated in RHINO lining, the other in LINE-X and they smashed both beds, the RHINO flaked off and broke off in shards, the Line-X conformed to the bends and stayed on.

 

So basicly Rhino sucks donkeyballs, and Line-X rules baby!

Either way this seems like a popular topic and the pics look awesome. I would think between my red Line-x pics and your black Line-x pics everyone would be pretty much sold on Line-x.

I have the Permatech spray-in liner, which contains urethane so it has the rubbery texture like Rhino.

 

As long as you have it done at a shop that is committed to the proper preparation of the bed, you will probably be happy with any of these mentioned. If they rush or cut corners on the bed prep, you aren't getting your money's worth and you might be unhappy.

 

As far as over or under the rails, I wish I had gone 'over the top' with mine. The add-on bed rail protecters are okay, but I think the extra $$$ for the bed rail coverage is a good investment.

 

BTW, mine was $325 four years ago and I've never regretted it. I'll certainly never go back to drop-in liners!

Got the Speedliner on mine and will be three years in Nov. It is holding up great and still has a rubber feel to it. Love it. If you do a ton of commercial they can add kevlar to it to make it stronger.

I'd do over rail and replace the plastic tailgate cap following the same lines down with Line-X

My truck was Line-Xed by the dealership.I've hauled several hundred pounds in weight and the coating has been excellent.

I had Line-X sprayed in my son's new S-10 about 2.5 years ago. It's under rail because he has a Truxedo on top. He carries a lot of USMC gear in the bed and has used it to move furniture and other bulky items. The only damage is a stain from spilled cleaners that he never cleaned up.

 

I've used the truck a number of times for hauling and noticed that Line-X, while tough, is not very sticky and loads will move on it if not secured. It's certainly better than bare or most drop-in liners, but I think Rhino and some of the other brands may be more sticky. Of course, sticky can be a problem when you want to slide loads on and off. (I had contant problems with my Avalanche bed mat being too sticky.)

 

If I bought a new truck tomorrow, I'd have it sprayed with Line-X.
