What does warrentees cover?

I am going to take the suburban into the dealer for engine pinging and coolant system checks and was confused about what is covered under warrentee. The truck has 31,000 miles on it. I was reading the warrentee book and it seems like the plugs, belts, wires, etc are covered. This sounds right because the maint. book dose not call for their replacement until 100,000 miles. A while back, a different dealer (while trying to fix the pinging problem) tried to bill me for a cylinder carbon cleaning because this was a maintance item. I gave him some resistance and he covered it under warrantee. What can I expect to be covered? I don't want to come off as a jerk when I deal with this new dealer.

Thanks

Rich.

that carbon thing should have been covered.  Sounds like he was seeing if you would pay for it or not.

I heard brakes arent covered but i had mine in for a squeak and they replaced the pads and turned the rotors under warranty.  17K  miles on the truck that time.

It all depends what you need done.  Normal maintenance items arent covered (rear diff fluid change, oil change, etc)

Normally it depends on the dealer.  They are people too, some are jerks and some are nice guys.  Most everything that goes wrong w/ a new vehicle can be covered under warranty.  You just have to give them a little kick start.  The engine pinging should be covered and the coolant systems check may not be.  How come you want it checked out?  They may charge you to look at it, but if they're nice they'll see if there's a problem.  If there's any problems w/ it they'll fix it under warranty.

If I'm not mistaking, all power train items are covered under the warranty.  So the engine should be covered.  Stuff like brakes, fan belts and spark plugs might not be.  Dealer here in Anchorage has been really great about honoring the warranty.  Only problem is usually have to wait about 2 weeks to get an appointment.

The coolant overflow tank's level is dropping. I can't find any obvious leaks and the last oil anaylsis came back fine. There is no white smoke coming from the exhaust. Since the truck is still under warrantee, I would expect that the dealer will check out this problem at Chevy's expense.

If the level is low yes it should be covered under warranty

Yeah, any problems w/ it will be covered.  Sounds like it's just leaking out somewhere since it's not getting in the oil.  But, why waste your own time on it when the warranty isn't up yet.
