Fuel Additives

The other day I was looking at fuel additives...what's the difference between FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER and FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER? They both flow to the same locations, couldn't it be assumed that they'd both clean the same engine parts/systems? The fuel system cleaner is almost double the price of just the injector cleaner.

 

Do these things really work anyhow? And is any brand any better than the other (Gumout, STP, Chevron/Techron, etc.)?

I have used the Techron and it works quite well and on carb's too. Fuel system cleaners usually have a higher alchol content also to allow it to absorb more water from fuel system .

Which one does everyone go with, the fuel system cleaner or the fuel injector cleaner.

I go with the Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner, always works well.

I alternate between BG products and Techron, both great stuff IMO.

I use the techron as well, but also grabbed a few bottles of Lucas when it was on sale last year. Just added a bottle the other day.

Lucas is the way to go. I have used there fuel additive products for sometime now and have nothing but praise fot thr Lucas product. I did some calculations and if you use the product as recommended you will actually save most of the cost by getting better fuel milage. I know better fuel milage is always talked about but this product cleans and lubes the injectors and fuel system while providing a catalyst to help incresae fuel milage as a side benefit. My boats, cars and trucks actually run smoother with the Lucas product.

I run techron through mine at every oil change.

I use Techron every oil change. You can get a four pack at Costco for about the price of two anywhere else.
