Upgrading single disc to six disc

What all would I have to do to upgrade from the factory single disc to the six disc? I have found several on EBay but was wondering what else is involved in the upgrade...

it depends on what year your truck is and what year the hu is.

 

if you're trying to add a hu from 03+ to a -02 truck (and vice versa), it's going to be very difficult since they use completely different wire harness and hookups. i'm pretty sure that 6cd changer hu is 03+ and wasn't avaliable prior to 03. anyway, if your truck is 03+ and hu is 03+, only thing you should need to do is to get the hu reprogrammed to your vehicle’s vin at the dealer. some dealer will do this and some (like mine) will not.

It would by a '03 or newer. How come your dealer wont reprogram it for you? I have never asked mine so I don't know if they will or not.. Might just wait and put in the nav system instead

my dealer never gave me a good reason. when i asked them how much it cost to reprogram if i bring them a nav hu installed and they just told me that they do not recommend installing nav hu myself and will not reprogram the hu that they did not install.
