cant get oil change light off...

my 02 tahoe had the change oil light come on. so i changed the oil, and i did the usual turn the ignition on, hit the gas 3 times and it usually resets, for some reason i tried it about 15 times, and i cant get it to work. so everytime i start the truck, it says change the oil. what should i do?

Did you push the pedal to the floor three times RAPIDLY? I would assume you did if you've done it before. I usually after doing it switch the ignition back off and leave it for awhile before restarting it. If that doesn't work I'm at a loss.

Take a break, drink 3 beers, call your mom and tell her how much you love her, watch "The Matrix" again, drink another beer, then try again.

this is the exact wrong answer. You have to push it slowly(once / sec)

i did all of the above, and the beer, movie, and try again later seemed to work.

Just disconnect your battery for a few seconds than reconnect. Mine never resets, I know I'm doing it right becuase my dad's always resets.

I could never get mine to work when I did it and when the service guy did it for me it worked fine while I stood with the door open watching him. Next time same thing, no go for me but took it to stealer and watched him do it again for me. Third time I tried and no go. I thought WTF, and then realized previous 2 times door was open. Bingo, works like a charm.
