Cat. Converter removel

I have a 98 GMC with a vortec and the converters are not doing there job so the computer is flashing codes and the check engine light comes on. So what would I have to do to keep the computer happy if I remove the converters??

I wanted to cut mine off on my 99 Sierra but I've read that if you cut them off it messes up the O2 sensor behind the cat. I've heard mixed reviews. I know if you get them cut off you can scrap them for about 40 a peice depending how full they are. I'll be interested to hear what other people say.

You should get new cats, your computer will know there are gone, and codes galore.

You have more power WITH cats on Fuelie trucks now a days, you won't have enough backpressure to make your torque, or for maximumrebel1, his 400+ torque that his 5.3 makes from all his wicked mods he posted about.

On second thought, maximumrebel1 might want to get rid of his cats to increase his air flow, when you descreen a MAF you seriousley bump up the air flow.

you could get an 02 fooler. They sell them at summit. Sends signal to computer that everthing is fine. Wouldn't advertise that you dont have cats, there required. Feds pay $250 finder fee to people who turn in others that dont have cats.
