How do I replace the autotrac/4wd button?

The bezel around the gage cluster just pops off. Start up in the corner by the drivers door and give it a little tug. Once it starts to come off, just work your way around the entire gage cluster to remove it...

When the switch is replaced, just pop it back on...

One thing Shaners didn't mention is that it might be helpful to put the shifter in 1 and adjust the steering column all the way down.

Oh and be careful taking it out on the back of the bezel there are little rubber caps that cover plastic things that stick out to support the back of the bezel to the dash. If you are missing any of these you might get an annoying squeak later.

I need to replace this switch in an 01 Tahoe. Should the battery be unhooked since the switch is electronic to prevent any surges? Or do I just plug an go? I know power should be disconnected on throttle position sensors, etc.

Anyone????

I didn't disconnect the battery when I replaced mine, just made sure that the key was out of the ignition. 2 yrs later, still no probs.
