Acronym definitions?

Pardon the Noob question, but what do NBS and OBS mean? I've tried a search, but can't find them.

Is there a list of acronyms and their meanings somewhere?

Thanks!

You will see it with 99 a lot, because there are some OBS 99s and some NBS 99s.

That sounds pretty confusing - do you know where I could find pictures of each style (in the 99 model year) for comparison?

Just look at a 1998 for the look of a 1999 OBS. Then look at a 2000 for a NBS 1999.

Ferd did the same thing with there F-150, except they called there OBS the Heritage.

So after all that, in 1999 you could buy two different style trucks. One based on the 1998 design OBS that had the 5.7 350 engine. or based on the newer style NBS with the 5.3 engine.

'99 half-tons went to the new body style with new engine lineup.

'99 3/4-tons and 1-tons kept the old body style because they didn't get a styling/engine setup change til 2000.

They made OBS 1/2tons in 99 too.

Early year model was OBS, mid & late year were NBS.

I owned a 99 OBS ECSB z-71 3 door truck.

I didn't believe it was a 99 when I went to buy it, thought for sure it was a 98. It was a 99 though.

I believe the 99 OBS were called a "classic" for the body style by GM. They had Chevrolet across the tailgate in vinyl lettering, like the Cheyenne's & W/T had.

Your right and the GMC's had a "classic" insignia on the tail gate in place of the Sierra sign. The NBS took over the "Silverado" and "Sierra" lineup so the OBS's were not confused with the new ones, because if you notice there was no Silverado or Sierra badging anywhere on the 99 OBS's.

We'd have to find out which generation the OBS ones were. On my ZR-1 forum thats how we refered to different year Vettes. I believe OBS is like 5th or 6th gen. That or we could just call them C/Ks, and the NBS would become OBS.... :seeya:
