K&N FIPK II

Well, I ordered an Air F/X All purpose induction system to try and hook it up to my cousins car this weekend.  Well, it came on monday, and it's a long way 'till saturday so I pulled out my air box and hooked up the cone filter.  Wow, I was rather impressed by the new performance.  Heck I think even the flowmasters sound better now.  So, I ordered a K&N Gen II filter set up that night.  I should have it this thursday.  I'll get some pics of the install.

Also, when I took out my air box the lower part of the filter box had about a 1/2 cup of water in it.  Is this normal???

I should get my FIPK by Friday. Looks like we will both be doing the same thing on Saturday morning.

Just so long as it's not raining I'll throw it in thursday night.  Since most of the stock intake is removed it should be a cinch.

Ryan, you can't forget that I'll proably be getting those tail light guards on soon, so you've really got to get going.  But, I'll give you two weeks since, I won't get much done this week and next week I'll be in Vegas.  Plus, I'll prably spend the whole day when I get back going through all of the threads on here to catch up.

Alright, the box just came a few minutes ago, I was thinking about runninng out and putting it on during lunch (they do say 1/2 hour install time) but I guess I should wait until I get home.  I don't want people to see the chevy out there w/ the hood popped and me working on it, they might get the impression it broke down.

HeyChevy, The Air F/X Kit you got for you friend. Was the quality of the materials and the filter pretty good? because J.C. Witney sells one for our Trucks with 5.3 (or4.8) for like $90. i was considering getting it over the K&N since it was so much cheaper, but i was afraid of the quality. What was your opinion of the Air F/X unit?

The Air F/X system is cheaper than the rest because all it essentially does is replace the airbox w/ the cone filter.  The rest of the intake is untouched.  The cone filter was a little bigger than the K&N, but there was no heat shield.  IMO I would just save up the 250 and get the K&N FIPK.  The only reason I threw the Air F/X was because it's cold out so a heat shield wouldn't be necessary.  The filter is well made and I'll post some pics of the install on either a 96 bonneville or a 95 grand prix.  Essentially the kit is the cost of the filter.

Just so you all are aware....if you ever decide to add a Helix Power Tower or any other Bulls**t brands. Know that you will need to cut your stock fan shroud to clear the Gen II intake. If you have already converted to electric fans due to the underpulley refab available, disregard.

And...no..it is not normal to pull water out of your air filter...hehe
