murphyrulez Posted October 25, 2001 Posted October 25, 2001 I got a new Avalanche, Z66, it comes with the towing apparatus on the back, and it had the wiring adapter in the glovebox for the trailer. I didn't get a receiver though. The part with the ball on it, to actually attach the trailer. Was I supposed to? I haven't called the dealer yet to ask them, was hoping I could have one of you guys tell me I should actually have it before I call asking. Thanks! Paul
RyanbabZ71 Posted October 25, 2001 Posted October 25, 2001 Tow pkg you get the hitch, wiring, trans cooler You have to buy the ball and other hardware
RyanbabZ71 Posted October 25, 2001 Posted October 25, 2001 I think this is what you are talking about (see pic) if so then you have to purchase that
Shaners Posted October 25, 2001 Author Posted October 25, 2001 You'll have to buy your "slide-in" and ball. You'll need to decide on what size drop you'll need (prob 4") and what size ball (1 7/8" or 2" are the most popular). With the trailer package you do get a tranny cooler too, which is a good thing even if you never tow...
Carovette Posted October 26, 2001 Posted October 26, 2001 Chevrolet Parts Direct has a Stainless Steel Receiver for sell...if you buy the black, rest assure, it will get surface rust over a period of time and look bad. Chevrolet.com, click the Chevy Mall, Chevy Trucks, buy the receiver lock, it a nice unit on sell right now. Another option is some of the parts websites, I like the straight, short vs the longer drops, unless your towing a big rig.
