Hey guys I need little help here I'm thinking  eliminating the factory fan clutch and installing electric one for the cooling. Is anyone have done it and what the benefits are?

Thanks John

My daugher's 93Z28 has two electric fans. Tho I like them, and have fit some motors in small chassis and needed them, I don't like the poor reliability. When one goes out, you've got some troubleshooting to do, and if in the back country, it's a little more difficult.

I have the flex-a-lite kit on my truck and I love it!! No more noise from that old fashion fan and I do think I am get many more horse's to the rear wheels! I bought the kit for towing and it has kept the engine cool up many grades. I would suggest this kit to everyone!!

Electric fans will definatly free up some HP. There is a tremendous amount of drag on the engine when the traditional fan clutch is engaged.

You know, I never realized until I actually looked at the clutch fan, it's plastic! Pretty cool. My 01 S10 had the metal fan and that thing sucked power down. I bet the plastic fan doesn't take as much power to spin.
