On going problems

I jacked up the rear end of my 98 tahoe and i got under there with a pry bar and started prying and checking to see if there were any loose bolts or body mounts, and if the shocks were bad. I did find out that it already has bilstine shocks on the rear and none of the bolts/nuts were loose, and the leaf springs arent loose. Now the problem is when you come to a complete stop anywhere and push on the gas to take off you feel and hear a thud coming from the rear of the truck like something is flexing due to the torque or is broken and lifts up when you let the torque/weight off while stopping. I also held my foot on the brake and gave it a little gas and the rear end lifts up, then i let off the gas and it set backdown and i felt the thud. I really dont want to take it to the dealership cause they will charge me a arm and a leg. Has this happend to anyone elses tahoe or yukon, because it is also happing on my friends 98 tahoe also and the onlything different between my tahoe and his tahoe is that his has the towing package and mine dosent. Please help, Thanks.

Check your U-joints, I'll bet one is tweeked just a little bit. (just a thought)

Sounds kind of like the ol' front yoke slip/stick condition. It was pretty common on that vehicle.

Try pulling the driveshaft out and liberally smearing grease on the splines inside the front yoke. We use a special grease for this, but anything will do to see if this is your problem, it probably just won't last as long as what we use.

I'd bet it is the slip yoke like above...

One other thing too, check the bushings on the sway bar.

In a car I used to use for AutoX'ing, the aftermarket rear sway bar made the same type noise you describe because the bushings were messed up.

Good luck! :seeya:
