So I am on the PA Turnpike today heading west near the Monroeville exit when I see a car on the side of the road with the hazard flashers on. So as I get closer to the car I see it is a silver 2004 + Nissan Maxima. So the closer I get my radar detector starts going crazy, and as I drive by I clearly see a radar can hanging out the driver side window along with a State Police officer sitting in the car. What are they gonna think of next?

Yeah, Ok had a ton of Implalas. In fact Tulsa has two low-profile Impalas with hidden lights that are supposedly making them some big $$$

Well here you can be going down the road and you better watch out for white Camaros because the State Police here use them here. If you see it from the drivers side as you pass it you think it is just a white car but if you are passed by it on the passenger side they have the normal State Police star. :happysad:

The town I took mc training in Michigan was like that; decals on only 1 side of the cars for their traffic unit. We're not that tricky. I will say the last batch of Crown Vics we got are small enough...the seats have more padding in the back, and it's too low...so it presses right about where my belt/gear is, and that's not fun. I could only imagine if we went to Impalas. We just need to get more forfeited Suburbans like the supervisors drive now.

On another positive note,

State police and Sheriffs Departments have been using seized vehicles for years, if they are in decent enough shape for patrol and road assignments. We just seized a 2003 Jeep Cherokee that is now stickered and lit for our snowmonile patrol, it is now our primary tow vehicle for the snowmobiles. In our department the more money that is not spent on new vehicles so to speak and seized property that is taken away from unlawful individuals and actually put to good use instead of transporting or being used in a crime is better off for us (and the public). We are now able to save tax payers money on not having to purchase vehicles as often and putting that money to better uses such as department issued bullet proof vests....

Just my 2 cents

When I went to Dallas last Saturday, the Texas smokies had Camaro SS's. Hood scoops and all.

First time in my life I ever wanted to be a state trooper. :happysad:

I need him to take me down there sometime and get me into one of those auctions!

On Presque Isle State Park in NW PA (Lake Erie), the park police drive white Chevy Venture Minivans (unmarked)!!! What a perfect vehicle for them to have because every family visits the park in their minivan, so they blend in all too well!!!

FHP has some camaro's with the covette motor, and are rated at 160 with full equipment, and 2 passengers (driver/prisoner). The sheriff's dept has vehicles ranging from minivans, to unmarked sivler mustang gts, explorers. expidetions, jeep cherokee, and several tahoes.

Where I grew up, Santa Barbara County, CA, the highway patrol has a few Volvos they use. They are all white and have the thin little light bar on the top. Impossible to spot them really. The local sheriff has HD2500 to go out patroling with too.

I despise state highway police...they are the single most useless law enforcement body.

their sole purpose is to give tickets and harass citizens. they don't prevent crime, they don't solve any crimes, they just write tickets.

any one else see how useless it is to have an agency whose sole duty it is is to write tickets to pay their own salaries.
