Seatbelt /chime Alert

Hello,

I just got a 05 Z71 Crew cab and love it. One thing that is a pain is the buckel seatbelt chime that comes on every few min. Does anyone know how to disable this?

SMITTY...........04-05 GM fullsizes (maybe 03 too) no

longer have the seperate chime unit. All chime noises

are made BY the radio itself so

you can't just disconnect it.

Leave your keys in the ignition and open the door.

The chime will come thru the left door speaker !

There is a procedure to make the key chime loud or

soft but not off.

The procedure is outlined in your owners manual.........geo

bug the two wires together at the seat belt switch connector, or get the metal latch from a junk yard seat belt and stick it in there to make the truck think the seat belt is latched.

Mines an 04 and will chime at intial startup but not every so often. I guess it might if your in and out of park with the engine running.

Do a search in the audio electronis section, several ways to do it, I think Linda posted one fix. Just a couple of wires around the fuse panel. Had pictures also.

As far as the loudness setting goes- after first reading of this setting in these forums I tried it with my '04, since the chime (for whatever reason it's set off) always bothers me. What I discovered was that the default setting is the "soft" setting, aka annoyingly loud, and the other "loud" setting should really be called "mindnumbingly deafeningly loud". Seems there should be a "mute" setting too.

found out something this weekend about the chime, You can temporarily turn it off if you have the door open wyle working on your truck.

Just push and hold the #6 preset on your radio with the key in the run, acc, or on poss. it will turn it off until you close the door, then it will reset.

what do you do if your radio doesn't have a #6 button like the nav radio's?

You can stop the chime when the door is open/radio on/key in ignition by disconnecting the drivers side door lock switch from the harness.

now if you could find the correct wires from this harness you could wire in a manual switch to overide the chime without manually disconnectiong the switch on the drivers arm rest.
