my engine shuts off while driving!

i own a gmc 2500 hd utility truck. the problem i have is that while im driving the engine shutts completly off and i have to coast to the side of the road. i take the key out for aboout 3 minutes and it starts up fine. if i try to start it up before then it makes a weird noise like its trying to start but cant. what do i do? when im driving it only happnes at maybe around or under 25 mph once i was trying to brake and it stoped and the other i was stoped at a stoplight and was accelerating acrosss the intersection.

If I were you, I'd change out the Ignition Control Module or the Crankshaft Position Sensor (if it has one). Use genuine GM parts or you will regret it, trust me.

 

What is the weird noise? Can you be a little more descriptive?

 

Is it showing a Check Engine light?
