Tahoe DRL's...?

On my 2001 Z71 Tahoe, I've noticed the DRL's never come on. I called the previous owner and he couldn't recall wether they did when he had it or not. It has had alot of aftermarket electrical added but was all done very well. I also looked on a friends stock '05 Z71 and noticed that hers don't come on either. It has the auto headlight system, but I assume that during the day they should come on!! Has anyone noticed this on their own Tahoe?? Any ideas for getting them to work?? I hate to have a perfectly good bulb just sitting there doing nothing!!

Thanks

The way to check the DRL's is to turn ign on and put in "D" with engine not running and e-brake off. If they dont work check to see if the bulbs are burn out. If so use the 14v replacement bulbs so they wont burn out again. Probably have someone in truck while you check so not to have vehicle roll away.

Yeah the truck has to be in gear or they won't come on. Also are you sure the bulbs are good? They burn out pretty quickly on these trucks. The reason a lot of them don't work is the bulbs went out and the driver's just don't realize or care to replace them.

TAHOE...........On my 01 and 04 fullsize Chevy pickups the

DRLs come on as soon as the vehicle is started. There is

also a DRL symbol lit up on the dash.

My 04 owners manual calls for #4114k drl bulbs.

If no symbol on dash lit up I assume somebody pulled the

DRL fuse from the underhood fuse center. If it is lit either

somebody pulled the bulbs or they are burnt out.

Funny tho....My 96 and 03 DeVilles the DRLs will only come

on when put into gear.........

After some research and trying the above suggestions...99-2Door was right. The truck has to be in Drive for the DRL's to work and there isn't any visual interior notification that they're on. My '97 Blazer DRL's came on as soon as it was started and had a green symbol on the dash letting you know they were working.

Thanks for all the tips!

You may want to go take another look. The DRL indicator went away with the OBS trucks. And they should not come until the truck is in drive. I dont know about the Canadian spec trucks though......they might be different.

HIHO.......Me BAD......You are correct...............

My old age is thinking my 97 Chevy truck or Caddy.

The DRLs do turn on when vehicle is running in park tho.

Heres a site to disable those pesky DRLs or auto ons:
