New member with new Silverado 1500HD

Greetings ya'll. I am new and so is my 2002 Silverado 1500HD. Just got it yesterday. Does anyone else here have one and if so, whattya think?

Congrats on the new Truck. How do you like the 6.0L motor so far and did you get a 4x4?

I like the 6.0 engine. It is a bit more powerful than I expected with a full crew cab vehicle and yes, I did get the 4X4. My wife and I took a trip from Atlanta to Gatlinburg TN this weekend and were quite pleased with the truck.

It rides and handles well and is very comfortable with the soft leather captains chairs, 6 way power adjustments, and auto climate control. We have 500 miles on it now which is not a lot so I am curious if anyone else has had one for a while and what comments they may have.

I must say one thing though. I had a 98 F-150 Lariat extracab before buying the 1500HD and there is no comparison. The Silverado is a MUCH nicer truck...in my opinion anyway.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new truck. Shanners has a 2500HD crew cab and from what he has posted about it he seems to like it. Keep us posted on mods and performance.

I'm glad you like you're new crewcab. It sure is alot more truck than the supercrew F*rd isn't it? No wonder you traded in on a Chevy!!!

What gears are in your truck? In the 2500 series I had to get the 4.10's (no option). You should have had the option between 3.73 and 4.10.

I love my new truck!! I have about 2500 miles on it since the end of June, and it is still as tight as when I drove it off the lot. The motor feels stronger now though, so I think it is starting to get broken in.

Milage isn't very good, but I drive 95% in town and trips of less than 2.5 miles, so I'm not complaining about 11-13 mpg's.

Enjoy your new ride and post some pics for us. There is a couple other 1500HD owners that hang around here from time to time, but you guys are a rare bread... LOL!!!

Welcome Jim! We've had our 1500HD since late August and are very impressed with it. We have the 3.73 rear end gears in ours. The mileage isn't spectacular but the ride and the power is. We have about 10K miles on it now and will be towing a fifth wheel trailer soon.

Thanks for the replys everyone. My truck looks exactly like the pic that WINK posted. I now have 600 miles on it due to a spur of the moment joy ride to the Smokey Mountains. I have the 3.73 gears and am glad I got 'em instead of the 4.10s. Power is fine and I wouldn't want the milage to be too much worse.

Being a modded Vette nut, you can bet I will add a few goodies. I have already been to www.truckperformance.com to check out the performance air intakes, exhaust, chips, etc.
