How Many Vets?

I was reading a post that mentioned military and I just wondered how many had served. Just a curiousity for me.

Army, 4 years. Desert Storm vet. 1 year in Isreal.... shooting down the scuds

Navy. 6 years. Desert Storm/Desert Shield. Kuwait, Bahrain, U.A.E. Friggin' hot over there in August!

Air Force 8 years and still serving.

Air Force, 20 Years and still going! Been here, there and everywhere! 11 years as a KC-135 Crew Chief, now working in office.

U.S. Navy; 4 years-1969-1973. Served aboard the U.S.S. John Paul Jones DDG-32 (now decommissioned.) Two tours into the Tonkin Gulf being assigned to plane-guard detail for numerous air craft carriers as well as off shore fire support to various VC targets.

Army '90 - '92

Touched down in Germany the day we started bombing Baghdad. Was assigned to one of two Armor battlions in Europe that did not participate in Desert Storm.. I guess 500K troops plus me would be overkill.

US Navy 9 years 2 months and 6 days - NAS Imperial Beach - VR-24 Rota, Spain, VF-124 NAS Miramar, VF-143 USS America....

 

and THEN...

 

22 years 4 months 14 days as a DoD civilian working for the Tank-Automotive and Armament Command

23 years to the day. Retired as a Chief Petty Officer

Most of it spent as EP-3E, P-3A, P-3B, P3-c, EP-3J Naval Aircrewman.

Did a few years in A-7C, A-7E, TA-7C, A-6E, F/A-18 A, F/A-18C.

Started out in Westpac, saw everything there, went to the East Coast and saw it all on that side.

What an awesome job. I sometimes wish that I hadn't retired.

I had signed up to be a 31K but when I was going thru AIT it was changed to 31U and then a few months later I went to school and became a 31F.
