'01 Silverado Driveline Question

Recommended Posts

I have a new '01 Silverado Ex. Cab 4x2 LT. I seem to have a driveline clunk when accelerating slowly from a complete stop. The first to second shift seems to shift very hard, and can probably best be described as a hard unrefined shift, the trans seems to sort of bang into second. There seems to be a lot of vibration during this initial shift. It seems to be more apparent when the driveline is fully warmed up also. I just hit 2500 miles, and this issue seems to have worsened since new. I am new to the chevy world, and am looking for someone else that has had a similar issue, so I have some recourse with the dealer. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Welcome Todd,

You may be suffering from "driveline shudder" on "launch".  I believe the TSB staits to replace the 2-piece drive shaft with a single shaft.

As far as the 1-2 shift, the dealer should be able to reprogram you tranny for you.  These new transmissions are all computer controlled so there is different software the dealer can download to change the shifting.
