ses and tranny problem after rebuild

Recommended Posts

got the truck back on monday with a rebuilt trannsmission. it shifts fine for the most part, with one exception - after driving on the freeway for a while (20 min or so), it shifts REALLY hard between 1st and 2nd. if i shut it off for a few minutes and go again, it shifts fine. fluid level is fine.

i am taking it in this afternoon, but was curious if anyone had any thoughts...

I suspect you are throwing a code and putting the trans in "limp" mode which increases line pressure. May be detecting some slip or it may be getting hot. You really need to get the code read and that should give you an idea.

I'm guessing a P1870 code.

I'd take it back to the goons who stole your money, er rebuilt it and tell them to fix it.

Hi;

I had the same problem with a P1870 code. Turned out to be the valve body in the transmission. Changed it and no problems since.
