newbie with question

i just recently purchased a 2000 silverado Z71 with the towing package and I ordered a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller because everyone seems to think they are the best.

so my question is do i need to install a 40 amp fuse in the fuse box or not?

I am looking to buy a trailer that is 83 inches by 16 feet, tandem axle, with brakes on both axles and a breakaway, I hope this sounds normal I am really new to all of this

so do I need a fuse or not, I was thinking I was only needed one to power up the batteries on the trailer, but is this only like in a motorhome and not a flatbed trailer

somebody please help I would appreciate it?

Thanks in advance

Using electric brakes with an in-cab controller on a trailer is the same, regardless of it being an RV or a flatbed. If it's the "electric brake fuse" as you say it is, it needs to be there for the controller to work.

BLACK.........You only have to put the maxi fuse in stud

#1 position in the underhood fuse center to make the

power wire in the trailer hitch wiring hot.

Your brake Tek. Prodigy controller should be plug n play!

Just pull the cover off the fuse center next to the parking

brake. Its labeled clearly.........................
