TxDoc Posted February 12, 2002 Posted February 12, 2002 Producing 285 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque is the Vortec 5300 engine. On light-duty Silverado and Sierra 2WD/4WD models, this 5.3L V8 –can be specially ordered to run on varying blends of ethanol and gasoline from 100 percent gasoline up to a maximum 85 percent ethanol.
sincityZ71 Posted February 12, 2002 Posted February 12, 2002 Yeah I read about that. If they would have offered that for the 2001 model year I would have gotten the engine so I could run off of either gas or E85. It would be nice to have the option. E85 is great, especially since it is produced from corn; which hopefully would be able to help out farmers if it ever gets to be more mainstream.
TxDoc Posted February 12, 2002 Author Posted February 12, 2002 I meant ethanol. I typed methanol accidentally. Guess racing season is here.;)
