It's time for tires, Brigdestone or BFG's?

Hey guys,

I am kind of torn at the moment. I can't decide which tire I need to go with. The Bridgestone Dueler Revo's or BFG A/T's. I really want my single cab to look more agressive than does now with the stock bridgestone cheese cutters. So, I need some pics and opinions guys. I am wanting to go with 265/70/17's and I am going to crank the torsion bars. I wouldn't mind 285's but, I have 3:42's. So, help me out here guys. :D

Thanks,

Chad

If looks are the important issue, go with the BFGoodrich All-Terrain:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...errain+T%2FA+KO

If the criteria is based on delivery, go with the Dueler AT Revos:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...eler+A%2FT+Revo

If comparative shopping is imporant, look at this survey:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresult...y.jsp?type=ORAT

And my take on the whole issue is that you get the tire and accessories that make YOU feel good because NO ONE, other than your pals and yourself, are going to look at your tires.

Actually, this goes for any accessory or modification.

I think you know which ones i will vouch for.

I cant offer any real world advise on the bridgestone revos, but the duelers arent worth a cent and are the worst tires i have ever had to drive on in the entire 15 years i have had a license! So the choice for me to stick with bfg's was a very easy one, plus i still think the bfg's look a thousand times better then the revos do but this is only my opinion and ofcourse it's biased! :D

Not sure which model of tire it was, they were the oe ones without raised white letters!

Regardless like i said the bfg's had the best traction of any tire i have drivin on in the snow&rain! The road noise is very minimal with the bfg's considering the tread pattern and they have made every chevy truck i have put them on look 10 times better.

Ive got nothing to contribute on the revos it seems like most love them which is great, but the last 13 years i have had bfg's on my truck ive had 0 flats or tire related issues and have gotten 55-60+ thousand miles out of the 3 sets i had in that time frame. So ive had no reason to even bother with looking to other brands for results!

Bigdog -

I'm not knocking your choice of BFG AT's, but I have found that they actually suck in the rain. I've had all my AT's siped in order to combat sliding all over the place. My AT's start sliding even if it looks like it's going to rain. Just kidding about that. The BFG's AT's offer impressive traction in snow, dry pavement, and in mild to semi moderate off roading . They also look tough, balance perfectly, ride silent, and last for what seems an eternity. Regardless of what peeps say about the worthy REVO; I really like the AT’s and continue to outfit my rides with them.

I have had BFG tires for years and love them. Not trying to flame, but I have had excellent wet traction with my BFG AT tires over the years. In my area, highways get repaved about as often as a new Pope is elected and needless to say, the grooves where traffic rolls gets worn pretty bad and water stands very easily. I have had NO issues with water traction while driving, accelerating or braking. In my opinion, they are one of the best performing AT tires on the market and they look great too.

As far as previous experience with Bridgestone, I'd have to agree. So what did I put on my truck a month ago? REVOS. I cannot speak about wear as the tires are new. But everything that has been said about the Revos seems to be true so far. (I actually don't believe they are Bridgestones based on my previous experience) The wet traction is supurb. The truck handles SO much better than with the OEM Bridgestones. I was looking at the BF Goodrich TA/KO's as well, they look like a great tire, but with the $75 rebate that Bridgestone had as well as the special that my local Firestone store had going, I took a chance on the Revos. So far so good.

Just a note to always rotate to maximize the use out of whatever tire brand is used. About 6,000 miles is a good standard.

Hey vroten,

Do you have any more pics of your truck with Revo's? I would love to see some since my truck is white also.

Hey Irymal,

I usually try to rotate my tires every 3000. Is this a bad thing or possibly overkill in your opinion?

As for everyone else. Thank-you so much for your opinions and pictures. Please keep'em coming!! :dupe:

I actually asked that very question at at Discount Tire and was told that it is NOT a good thing, that such few miles doesn't allow the tire to "set". I dunno...... 6,000 miles is the magic number probably because it is such a safe and standard range.

I think I'm split on whether 3,000 miles is good or not.

Usually, I rotate during an oil change and have not had problems rotating even at 8,000 miles. I think 10,000 miles is on the edge.

So, going by only my experiences with all the old trucks we have (which used to be new), 6000 - 8000 miles seems to be a good value. Other than the '03 Z71 which had a front suspension warranty issue (mentioned in earlier messages), I have had perfectly good-wearing tires, no cupping, feathering, and other wear associated with poor rotation.
