Gotta a new commuter

For a while now I have been wanting to get a car to drive back and forth to work to save mileage and wear and tear on the truck. I was planning for something like a cavalier or similar GM compact. Well til I ran across this car. For the money it's much more car than what I had planned...

It was a whim purchase so I really don't know much about it 'cept it has a 4.9 V8, Front wheel drive :dupe: and all kinds of electronic gizmos...

Friends parents had a 93 with over 280000 miles with no problems. It only recently went to one of their sons, as they bought a new one. They used it as a daily driver and going from TX to San Diego at least once every couple of months.

Pre Northstar's seem to be solid runners.

Cruising the forums on occasion, the Northstar after 2000 seem to be also solid runners.

Plus getting 26MPG Hiway with a roomy car can't be beat.

That's one hell of a "whim" purchase :seeya:

I almost bought a JGP Silverado on a "whim" today...But they were being buttheads about it, so I walked.

Yeah, it was kind funny. They had two of them. Other than the fact that one was black and the other white, they were pretty much identical.

The black one had "$10,000 off" on the windshield, making it about 30k. But they wouldn't go below 37k on the white one. :D Knobs.

At least they will not be getting the $$$ back from the tread I left on Reno Ave. :seeya:

oh man....I'm jealous. JGP Silverado is like the real Silverado SS..Chevy should just get Joe Gibbs to market the SS like SLP did for Camaros.

It was a pretty cool ride. That makes 3 I've driven...I have to say, I really prefer the automatic...And if there was ever a truck in need of 4:10 gears...That's it.

I also wasn't thinking about the rev limiter being removed. I shot past 100mph like it was 35. I probably hit 120 before I shut it back down. That was 4th gear (manny-tranny). Good thing the salesman had brown pants on. He didn't even know what a Joe Gibbs Silverado was until I let fly on an on-ramp. He thought the truck just had some neat rims and a cool front fascia.

But yeah....I really, really want one. Even if I could build the same truck myself for several thousand less. These come with a warranty.

That's my major dilemma right there. First off, I would never trade anything in. You lose too much money. Second, I don't know which truck I would part with...I like them both a lot.

I'd probably keep them both...Every unmarried man with no children needs 3 trucks...Right? :D

I need to wait until the new pickups hit the streets anyway, I like the way the Tahoes are looking, and I hope they go that direction with the trucks as well.

Sorry asilverblazer, I'll stop hijacking your thread now.
