Paint guys??????

Well I ordered some Luverne SS step boards and needed to remove my front OEM mudflaps to make them fit.

Note: If you plan on keeping your truck for a long time please remove these mudflaps and either use silicon or something behind them. Needless to say mine didn't have anything behind them and there are two spots, one up high and one down low that have been worn down to the bare paint.

So my question is this. I need some tips on repainting the area from the trim line to the bottom of the rocker, infront of the door to the wheel opening. Some specifics.

1. What paint to use.

2. Prep.

3. When taping off this area I would assume you use a body line to break the area you are painting. How do you keep paint from building up in this area?

4. What about buffing, does it need to be done if you are going to use a clear top coat.

5. Anybody have any experience with duplicolor products, good or bad?

Let me know what you think I need to do. This is not a show truck so I'm not paying someone 300 bucks to fix it.

If you are going to do something like this and want to make it look right, use the automotive products. I like the PPG product line myself. You can mask out the the area you want to spray and then after the base coat is down, you spray a blender on the area that will blend the different paint together to look like it was done at the same time. If you use the cheap stuff, it will not look good, nor will it last. Your best bet is to make friends with a painter guy, or just take it to a shop. The whole job should not be that costly to have it done right, than you will have a warranty to go with it.
