Hypertech III Settings 4.8L

Hi there, I asked this question before on a different site, but I want to see if I get a different response, by someone with the same engine. What would be good shift points for a 2002 Sierra 4.8L with the Hypertech III? I don't plan on racing, but want to have some get up and go:D ! I also don't tow anything. I already have a 50 series Flowmaster, drop in K&N, and plan on adding an UltimatePD air intake soon. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

I have a 5.3 in my truck, but I think I can answer your question. I have been in contact with Hypertech many times already dealing with my own setup problems. They tell me the shift point adjustments you can make with the PP3 only affect W.O.T. shifts. I don't race my truck either. I just wanted it to stay in third gear a little longer on a good launch. Say, taking off from a light and giving it about 3/4 throttle. I tried all the different shift point adjustments the PP3 allowed, and did not notice ANY difference is the shift points on a hard acceleration (I didn't make any W.O.T. runs, only about 3/4 to 7/8 throttle).

Now, the PP3 also lets you adjust the shift firmness as well, but that will only "bang" it into gear harder, not change the speed it shifts at. Understand? I also played with the shift firmness setting, but went back to the stock firmness setting. It shifts great with the Hypertech firmness, but when you go slow around the neighborhood, it really bangs hard from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st. I mean REALLY hard. I didn't like that, so I went back to the stock firmness. I have the Tow/Haul feature on the truck anyway, so if I need the extra torque, I can always use that to tow, or whatever. Other than that, I am very happy with the PP3 and the added performance from their tuning.
