Rattle in rear excab door

I have a rattle coming from the rear passenger side door on my Sierra. It seems like when i bump the door panel around the cup holder area i hear the rattle from either behind the speaker or behind the cup holder. It is really annoying whin driving on every bumpy road here in PA. How do you go about removing the door panel?...Id like to see if I can figure out what is causing the rattle, or should I just take it to the dealer and have someone look at it?

It basically pulls off, just be careful around the handle. Might be a screw in the arm rest, can't remember. Start at the top pulling gently to find where the clips are then pull harder in those areas.

two screws, one in middle of cup holder the other is next to it, rest are clips...

Before you take the panel off, you might check the rear seat belt tensioner. I had an agravating rattle back there in my '05 Silverado. I finally figured out that it was the little spring in the seat belt tensioner. If I pulled the seat belt out all the way and kept tension on it, the rattle stopped. I hardly ever have anyone ride in the back, so I just pulled all the way out and used those little dohickys with the bungy to hold it.

For what its worth, in my 05 Silverado, I have a slight rattle in the drivers side rear ext cab door near the top. Its seems most noticeable when cold. I have not really investigated fully yet but it almost seems like its near the top latch. Just thought I would post this in case anyone else has the same problem.

top, i have noticed that my rattle is more noticeable now that its cold....infact i dont remember it before it got cold out.

Looks like this is a common problem, i have a 05 silvy that is starting to rattle as much as my 95 s10 was when i traded it.The biggest rattle atm is the one some of you are describing, its either from the passenger seat or one of the doors on that side.Dealer checked seat and said it was tight, but might have them look at it a little further.Must say though no dealer has ever been able to fix a rattle or interior noise on any chevy trucks ive owned, always comes back with "could not duplicae noise" on the sheet.

Ill give the seatbelt thing a try hopefully i can find it myself almost dont even want to waste time bringing it to a dealer for a rattle because they never put much attention into interior noise issues.

And like all others it is much more noticable when the weather is colder.

Holy #### i think you solved the rattle i just took rear pass. seatbelt and clicked it into place, and the noise is pretty much gone.

my 05 went back to the dealer within a few days of new due to rattles. they had it for two days, apparently there was a long list of tsb's they had to do regarding rattles.

A quick tip for those with rattling rear doors; ESPECIALLY when cold.

Real easy to fix. Just get a ratchet and a 13mm socket. Open up the affected door. Loosen the bottom door latch striker; and move it *slightly* inward. Tighten bolts. Also adjust the upper striker on the affected door. Be careful when removing extended cab upper trim around the upper door latch striker.

Take a test drive and enjoy. Remember, only adjust in SMALL increments.

I performed this fix on my 04 Sierra, and I haven't heard a single noise from the newly adjusted doors. Works like a charm.
