Radiator/heater core replacement

91' Chevy C1500 5.7L TBI Automatic

I am going to replace both the radiator (34" w/trany cooler built in) and heater core this weekend. Looking for any tips or hints from anyone who has done this on their 88-94 chevy. Looks to be a pretty straight forward job. I will most likely replace the thermostat and hoses too, since i will have them all off anyhow. The radiator has a pin hole in it that the "stop leak" doesnt seem to be working on, so off they go.

Just make sure it's the same specification radiator as your OEM or whatever you "had" in there.

There are differences "inside" that is not visible.

Check the number of tube rows, whether they are inline or staggered and the size of the ATF cooler inside.

Also whether single pass or mulitple pass. Here's an image of a multi-pass radiator.

well, i can only find 1 replacement at my local auto zone. It is a single row with plastic tank and aluminum core. Has the oil and trany coolers built in. Why plastic tanks? Is plastic better than brass or aluminum?
