White Letters In or Out

I need some help because I cannot decide for myself. I am getting new BFG 285s for my pick-up on Thursday. I cannot decide if I want the white letters in or out. What do you think?

John,  I'd put the white letters out, especially since you are getting a "great" tire like BFG's.

Also since the truck will be sitting an inch or so higher, it will be that much easier to see the dirty white letters on the inside if you trun them that way.

If you really want the blackwall look then I think BFG makes an AT tire in a blackwall, but they may be limited in availability.

My vote would be to put the white lettering out.  But going on what Shaners said, if you want the black wall out make sure you get a tire without the black lettering.  I don't like seeing the white lettering on the inside of a tire.

btw, my Coopers are blackwalls and they really don't look that bad either.  Of course almost any mud grip tire looks good on a truck.

I guess I'm in the minority here and agree with yZR2k, I like the all black look and prefer the blackwall out.  With that said, I HATE seeing the white letters on the inside, so what I do on my trucks (all have Michelin LTX A/T's with ORWL) is have my tire place mount the blackwall out then take a small brush and use bead sealer and cover up the white letters.  The bead sealer is hard to get off, is black when it drys, and covers the white lettering nicely.

No one has ever been able to tell that I did this.  I'm still waiting for Michelin to make an all black A/T in 265, but until then this method works great.  Two reasons for doing it this way 1) I don't like/need to advertise (I know I have excellent tires, that's what matters).  2) Easier to clean with 303 and don't have to worry about the white lettering getting "scuffed" when the Mrs. decides to park a little too close to the curb ;)

Thanks to you all for the input. I am going to go with the white letters out. I will post pics of all my lastest mods as soon as I can. New moulded splash guards, Diamond plate tool box, Line-X, Denali Bezel. Man I got carried away with this thing.

Black wall out. The problem with white letters are that over a period of time the white band starts showing thru like a ring on the outside. If you lube them with armour all or equivalent it won't show as bad, but there will be days that the tire will show a white band around the tire.

my $.02

Sounds like you've made the decision, but I'll give my $.02 anyway.  White letters always go inside on my vehicles.  I like whitewalls but that's different.  Who really wants to see the manufacturer's name for my tires, anyway?
