I was reading that Gm switched gear styles to make them quiter, differant pitch and backlash. Anyone know what year they did this in? Also I have 3:42 gears on the factory locker, can I switch to 3:72 or 4:10 with out changing out the locker?

more than likely, just verify with parts dept that carier is the same number.

don't re-gear this unit yourself as they are very particular and difficult to get a good pattern even with dealer specialty tools.
