Tires- Need to Replace Replacements

I replaced the stock p-rated Wilderness AT's around 4 yeas/54,000 miles ago with LT265/75R16 C Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos. The Revos have been an exceptional tire; night and day compared to the stockers. It is however about time to replace them. I did some research on Tirerack as well as just by browsing around and came up with a few tires that sound like they might work:

Michelin LTX M/S available in a C range $845 + tax

Firestone Destination AT's in a C range I haven't gotten a price yet

BFG All Terrain T/A KO's in a D range $790 + tax

Yoko Geolander A/T Plus II in a D range $670 + tax

Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT unsure on the range $615 + tax

The Revos and the F-stone Destinations got really good marks on tirerack, and the tread pattern looks pretty good. I just can't see paying around $1000 for Revos that I paid $585 for just a few years ago. I'm just starting my search, so I've only gotten prices from one shop so far.

Obviously to give an opinion or suggestions on what to look at, you'd probably need some driving info. The truck is the one in the sig, a 99 extended cab Z71 Silverado. Most of the driving is to/from work on the interstate(22mi each way). We do get plenty of snow here normally, though this winter has been unreal with a lack of it(Where's my darn lake effect?!). Over the summer I will pull my Wells Cargo enclosed trailer(10ft if I recall) which has just lawn equipment in it. I do take the truck off the pavement from time to time, but nothing ridiculous. I just want a tire that's going to give me the miles the Revos have, the wet traction, and a good comfortable ride that isn't going to kill the average mpg's I get too. Obviously the BFG's have a nice look to them, but I'm a little unsure of the mpg's and wet traction with them. The prices I put up above were from the local NTB shop. I'm sure I could likely talk them down a bit on these. I have an alignment package with them currently which would carry over to the new tires, so that would be a plus for me to lean towards going with NTB for the sale.

Anyhow, your thoughts, comments, suggestions? Sorry about the length folks.

I have had many SUV's with many different tires over the years, the Bridgestone Revo's are the best all around tire I have ever had, I have had several Michelin's LTX's, they were good, but nowhere near as good in the mud/snow and the wet like the Revo's.

I have the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos also and they are the best tire dollar for dollar that I can find. I do about the same style of driving as you, but a little more off-road due to living on a ranch and my job. Now at tirerack.com the price for the Revos in a load range C is $620 and in a load range E is $700. The shipping for me is about $70 and there is no tax. Plus look at the reviews on tirerack.com about these tires, lots of people like them for an all around tire.

Yep, I'd be more than happy to get the Revos again if I could find them for a reasonable price. The only issue with ordering them on tirerack is that I'd like to get them from a shop so I could have the rotations, balancing, and then be able to get an alignment package. Thanks for the imput thus far and keep 'em coming.

I'm on my second set of LTX M/S in a LT265/75R16 LRC. Got 80K out of my first set and have 10K on my second with regular rotating and balancing (every 10-15K). Huge improvement over stock. Mostly a highway driver with some moderate towing over LONG distances. Much more quiet compared to the Firestones. Much better handling with the stiffer sidewall also. Never had any abnormal wear. Not a mud or offroad tire but awesome on pavement IMO.

Bish, how are they for wet and snow traction?  I know I've heard good things about those M/S's in the past.

I have heard some complaints from others about wet traction with the M/S. I will tell you this, compared to the Firestone Wilderness LE's that came stock, wet traction was like night and day. With the stock tires, I would routinely spin the tires from a stop in light rain. Way more difficult to do that with the Michelins. As for snow, they seem to work well in 4x4 in the little show we get here in the midwest. I'm sure the A/T would get better snow traction with the more open treat pattern. I have also driven in blizzards in Colorado with good success. Bear in mind, I grew up in New England and learned to drive in heavy snow all the time so I consider myself a seasoned snow driver.

I strongly considered trying the Revos' this time instead of another set of Michelins. I devided against due to price increase and some complaints about wear with low miles. Since I've been so happy with the Michelins, I played it safe and stuck with what I know.

Prior to trying the Michelins, I must admit I was a little skeptical about the rave reviews I had heard. Once I tried them, I have been converted.

I have the Yokohama Geolander AT II's on my 98 GMC and I have been very happy with them. I got them at Discount Tire and they beat a price that I was quoted from the local Fleet Farm on a completely different tire! With the deal they gave me it was a no brainer - 4 LT265/75/16's load range D out the door for $359 (including tax!) including their standard lifetime balance, road hazzard and free rotations. The tires seem to be wearing well and they have great traction in all the conditions I have put them through so far (rain, snow, etc). I tow a 6000+ pound trailer on occassion so I was looking for a tire with load range D or E and these have fit the bill nicely. If I had the money I would have purchased the BFG AT's in a second as I had them on my Jeep and they wore awesome and had excellent traction - or the Bridgestones look great too - but these tires would have cost me at least double what I spent.

Costco is offering $60 off on a set of 4 Michelin or BF Goodrich tires through Jan. 29. The Michelin's you list are $708 plus tax less the $60 on their website, the local warehouse price is usually the same. They offer free lifetime balance, rotation, flat repair and a road hazard warranty that other places charge $50 or more for. If you want the Revo's there will probably be a Bridgestone sale later. I don't think they carry the Revo's in stock but they can order them. Personally, I have the LTX M/S which so far have lived up to their accolades, never had them in snow. If, like Bish, you get 80K mi. out of them vs. 54K mi. on other brands the cost per mile driven is no higher, maybe less. Also, if "a good comfortable ride" is important to you, consider going back to the OE spec P-metric tires instead of LT-metric tires with higher recommended cold inflation pressure for the same size.

My latest set of Nitto's cost me just over $500 out the door, including the lifetime balance/rotate/alignment package...That's at a local joint (Hibdon Tires Plus).

They do great in the sand, not so hot in deep mud (they don't like to clear very fast), and from the very little snow and ice we get here...They do quite well.

But you can't get them with white letters, they're black on both sides...No sure what that's about.

They look tough though. :fume:

I had the LTX's on my old truck and really liked them. I have the Revo's on this truck and so far i like them too. The Revo's have more road noise (due to the more aggressive tread), and I suspect they wouldn't last as long as LTX's.

I had my Revo's mounted/balanced at Walmart and the reciept said lifetime balance. I think it was about $45 for all four of them to be done.

Nokian Vatiiva's here and would do it again. Not many miles on them but very impressed. Almost identical tread pattern as the Revo's for a lot less money.... Do not need 4wd near as much...

I heard Costco will stop carrying Bridgestones - lost contract with Bridgestone, so go get them while you can.
