Gremlins in the gas tank

If I let the fuel level get to a little less than 1/2 to 1/3 tank she won't start after sitting over night. Our driveway is very slightly inclined, maybe 5-10 degrees and I pull in, not back in so the front is a little higher than the rear. Where is the gas pickup? If I add 5 gallons when it does this it starts right up. Its kind of a pain to have to fill it at 1/2 tank all the time. Anyone else experience this?

Not exactly your same problem, but every since I replaced my fuel pump in my '97, if my fuel level gets like yours, when I drive up my driveway the truck will sputter. If you figure out what it is, post it. It may help me figure out what's going on with mine. Thanks.

I have an 03 silverado and I know the gauge pickup is in the rear of the tank. If I park on an incline with the front higher than the back the gas gauge reads higher. That doesn't mean the fuel line pickup is in the back though. I have been almost empty and parked on an incline and not had a starting problem. You might have another problem.

you obviously have a problem with the suction, pick-up, part of the pump system. It has nothing to do with the placement of the pick-up.

Drop the tank and inspect the intake filter. I believe the problem will be obvious.

Any one want to second that? How difficult is it to drop the tank?

Well i know those pumps are completely bathed in gas until you get below 1/4, so it really doesn't make sense that it wouldn't pick up. I'd have a look at that pump.
