Brake Controller!!!! HELP!! errrrrr

Errr i am so frustrated. I recently put a B&W goosneck hitch in my 2002 z71. No problems there. That was the easy part. Now i bought a reese brake controller for the cattle trailer that im going to pull. Found out my truck has a harness u can plug in under the dash for it and i thought it would be a sinch. HA! ya right! first i didnt have power there so took it to dealer and found blown fuse. He replaced that and yay i had power. Now it should work right?? RIGHT? Nope! My buddy with a 98 Z has a controller(diff brand) and he has no prob with brakes. Can lock trailer up on level four. Well tonight i tryed my brakes out. I plugged in and when i hit the brakes no numbers came up on the controller but the brake WERE working! Something wasnt right though. Had it turned all the way up and barely locking them up. Then i hit the brakes manually on the controller and blew the fuse after a few times!!! I have no idea whats goin on here! I dont know why it would work a little and have no numbers come up???? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS!?!?!?! PLEASE!! Thank you tons guys! CHRIS

Well, two things come to mind. First, why did you have a blown fuse in the first place?? Second, assuming it's just a fluke the fuse blew, I'd say you don't have a good ground connection. GM switched the wiring around a little on the pigtail harness in 2003-4 (ish). You could very easily have the ground and hot wire switched. Get a meter and start checking the wires.
