2005 Z71 GMC Sierra Crew Cab SLT all the bells and whistles minus sunroof 5.3 300 horse iron block 4l60 3.42s. It doesnt have the button to turn off traction control so I was wondering is there another way to get around the traction control system. It falls on its face in first when the wheels spin even with the gear selector in 1 the manual says TC should be disarmed and it is not. Thanks for any advice

4wd trucks do not have the switch. It is only avail on 2wd trucks. The traction control you are experiencing is torque management which is programed into your ecm or pcm. The only way that I Know how to get rid of it is to get computer programing.

Not to hijack the thread, but is Traction Control the same thing as Stabilitrac? My 2006 Z71 4x4 Tahoe has a button to turn Stabilitrac off, but I'm thinking it isn't quite the same thing as traction control. Stabilitrac works in all modes except 4x4 low when a message comes on that says Traction Control disabled. Just curious...

Traction control controls the traction by modulating the brakes on the drive wheels for the best traction. Stabilitrac keeps the vehicle from gointg out of control applying a certain brake under extreme conditions and keeping the vehicle under control. In other woerds if you are wanting to steer to the left and have the wheel turned in that direction and the vehicle does not respond the system will apply brakes at individual wheels to make it go in the direction the driver wants it to.

Corvette has had Active Handling since 1999 and its as good as having a professional driver driving.
