HILL LEVELING KIT

Every measurment from the Ford key to the Hill key is the same! You can even see on the Hill keys where they ground off the FORD factory part #'s!

I'll be installing the FORD keys....sometime next week. Just waiting for some new torsion bars to come in first!

They sure look the same to me too.  I bought a set when I had my Z71, then traded that truck in.  Can't use them on the HD so ended up selling them for, I think, 50 bucks.

Sure would be interesting to see if Hill will be carrying these much longer. LOL!  Friggin crooks!

I thought it kinda odd that they didn't come with any instructions, info, nothing.  A reputable company would have provided such.

Oh well, they saw an opportunity and scammed us.  Let the buyer beware!

Oh BTW - tinman, looks like Hill was the first to try em. :)

I was thinking about buying a set of these, but now that I see they are much cheaper, I'm going to pick a setup today.  Thanks for this info!!!

Is this personal research or something you came across elsewhere.  Anywho I guess I owe you cause I was getting ready to order a leveling kit.  For $50 its well worth it until I can save up the pennies for a real lift.

Can't blame Hill for finding something that works and re-selling for a profit?!?!?  Can you??

I think I can!!  :)

Question:  Is replacing the keys what raises the front end or do you have to replace the torsion bars too?  I noticed that BIGBADSILVERADO was waiting for torsion bars to arrive.  Do you have to replace the torsion bars?  What is the advantages/disadvantages to replacing the torsion bars?

Thanks, B.J.

Does someone have the Ford part #?  Where do you get them from?  The Ford dealer?  (I get a discount, so it'd be less than $50!!!)

Edit:  my price is <$20 each.  I ordered them from FCSD and they'll be here in 7-10 days.

scooter70,

The part number (XL3Z-5B328-CA) is in the webpage he linked...

woyster_00z71,

No, the torsion bars do not have to be replaced.  Some people do this because it stiffens the front suspension and reduces the chance of it sagging in the future.

This was kazuaki 's reply to scooter and woyster.  ( Ihad to remove the original because of a software glitch).  Sorry Kazuaki...

This was all done by myself and one other person who had a set of HILL KEYS. I've always heard that FORD keys were the same, but being pig headed as I am, I needed HANDS ON PROOF that this was true. Maybe someone else has done this research before, I don't know. I subscribe to a few "TRUCK and OFF ROAD" forums and have done searches on each of them with the only results being "I THINK THEY ARE THE SAME,  BUT NOT SURE". I took a chance and ordered a set of KEYS for a 2000 F150 4x4 and WA-LA....I struck gold! I just had to pass this on to everyone! HIll is in business to make money and did nothing wrong in my book, just remember...BUYER BEWARE!

My .02

I've installed a set of Hill's keys on my 02 Tahoe and love it, no problems and love the level look. In fact when I had 4 wheel do the install they told me they were Ford keys with the # shaved off.

And now that all of the C/K 1500 folks have vented, etc we come to the moment of truth for the C/K 2500 folks Hills 8 lug 2.5" lift - any takers. :)

Serious Question[1]: If you go this route with existing Tbars, will you get the same stiffness for the same height lift.

GMC D-Max [PUTC]

"changing the "at-rest" position of the torsion bar does not increase the pre-load even though the ride height is greater."

Can this be translated?

bassinbob [PUTC]

Serious question[2]: "From what I gather about all this is the fact that the c-v joints aren't racked all to #### with the new torsion keys versus just crankin the stock keys. Is this true?"

Thanks folks - this is sort of urgent since my Tbars are coming off next week for tranny work [new torque converter] and this would be the time to do it - another 1" w/o stiffening the ride any worse would allow better tire fitment.
