When did GM switch to Auto Trak II

What year did GM switch to the Blue Auto Trak II fluid? I have a 2002 5.3, and I was wanting to know how much fluid I was going to have to buy, if I need to do this twice to make sure I get all of the older Red Auto Trak stuff out.

Thanks.

Just an FYI, when I switched out the red for the ATII on my 99, the tsb that I saw recommended draining the red, filling with blue, then driving a mile or so, then drain and fill again. I don't recall the exact capacity, but +/- 2 quarts seems to ring a bell.

Yeah that's what I read as well. Just hoping to find out if someone knows whether or not I need to buy 4 qts to do it twice, or just the 2 qts if I already have the newer blue stuff in it already. Thanks.

And thanks for protecting our streets :)

If you have the push button 4x4 set up for automatic four wheel drive then it is the Auto Trak II. It takes two quarts to change out the fluid. It's a piece of cake to do. Also the cost of the Auto Trak II isn't that bad either, considering what the dealer charges for their synthetic read differential fluid, AKA grape juice.
