Dump Insert People

So do you have a dump insert? If so give some details, pros'cons etc..........also, who made it and cost etc.

I'm considering an aluminum because of the weight difference between it and the steel (400lbs vs 750lbs).

I've got a '02 2500HD, 6.0L 4.10 and do landscaping.

Thomas, I think you made a typo. I think you meant to type, "Do you have a dump insert?"

For those of you who still might be confused, a dump insert is what you see in some landscaper pickup trucks. Dump inserts sit in the bed of the truck and have an electric hoist that permits dumping of 1-2 yards of landscaping material.

Did you watch the show "Trucks" on Saturday 3/4/2006? They installed a kit to make the pickup bed become a dump bed. And it looked stock when done. I've seen the ones put on trucks with a hydraulic pump, and they look like crap, this one was concealed between the frame and looked great when done. It was run on an air pump so no hydraulics fluid to mess with. You would have to search for Trucks TV or go to the Spike TV web site for more details.

I second that motion. Saw the episode myself, if I were to do the dump thing I would seriously be looking into what the guy on "Trucks" installed.

SpikeTV's website sucks..........I went under the Trucks page and could see the schedule but you can't get info or anything.

I looked up the company and you call but they're be'n overwhelmed with calls from the show so I had to leave a name and #. The kit advertises lifting 4500lbs. Its just such a strange concept and the size of the airbag/volume just seems difficult to achieve that, must be one heck of a compressor. I do like the idea better than hydralic for maintance issues and plus your bed lines are lost with a hydralic because it raises your bed about 3".

Does anybody have more info on these? I would really like to know the price, hydralic you can get for $850ish so it would be interesting to see were the price is.

My main thing is I just want to know the price, drive to a distributor and see the thing in person/action.

BTW, my truck is for work as I am doing side jobs and starting my own landscape business......usually if it moves it's mak'n money, my other car is a '99 Civic SI :o).....yeah I know, Chevy guy AND a Honda guy??? haha

If nobody has one on this site, I've seen every type of dump kit and dump insert discussed at Lawnsite in the past.

As mentioned above you need to visit lawnsite.com for tons of info. There are several brands like Truck Craft, EZ-dumper, Maxi-dump, BriMar.

I have been checking these out for quite some time now. Most of the dealers have about the same kit. EzDumper only goes up to a 45deg angle i don't recommend an ez-dumper if you are working with sticky materials. The best I have found is at pathfindersnowplows.com it is in the neighborhood of 1600-1700 dollars plus shipping to your house. It dumps at a 60deg.
