Glad to see it. The technology is finally here to have a nice V8 powered car that passes emissions and gets good milage. These will be fun cars, I hope though that GM puts a good design on the car with excellent quality, especially the interior.

FYI, by the time that article was written, GM has changed their minds 4 times already.

However, the official word is that the Zeta light platform that next gen GTO would ride on is on hiatus for North America for now until GM gets some more "profitable" vehicles to market, I.E. the Tahoe/Suburban and eventually Silverado and their GMC counterparts.

The information in Autoweek is old outdated news.

Actually that is said to be rumor as well.

A March 2005 Detroit News article claimed the Zeta platform had been killed off by GM Chairman Robert Lutz, effectively killing off any hope for a resurrected Camaro as well. Rumors then shifted to suggest a stretched Kappa platform may be used for a future Camaro instead. However, the 2006 NAIAS concept Camaro clearly demonstrates that, to borrow a phrase from Mark Twain, the reports of Zeta's death were greatly exaggerated.
