Warranty is about to expire

All, my 36K warranty is about to expire (2K miles left). Knowing how things work, I expect things to start breaking right after expiration. I haven't had any mechanical problems so far (besides the steering shaft problem, tail gate recall, instrument cluster rattling) and I have been taking good care of the truck. Soo is there anything I should do before dooms day? 112 pt inspection, trans/engine check? what do you recommend?

Thanks much for your advice!

Given the recent posts about the 4L60E problems, I'd have the trans checked out. Or I'd evaluate the shift smoothness and if the 1-2 shift is firmer than the 2-3 shift, I'd ask the dealer to check it out.

Yeah a new truck is always nice, if you want to start over and pick up another payment for 6 more years. ...I'd check out the tranny too. Right now my 1500 bucks like crazy from 1-2.(at 170k now) If you have been taking care of you truck, you should get a lot of miles out of it.

Check the U-Joints...I had my go at 36,500k. I have a 2500HD...guess how much the joint is. $125 bucks from GM. WTF?

The good news is, my dealership covered it in full for me (Hell, I bought two new vehicles from them and have the service done there, it's the least they could do...but a welcome suprize none the less).

Extended warrenty. GM extended warrenty without a claim during the life of the policy will allow you to get a percentage back on the policy. Only way to go.

On my 04 Sierra w/ 60K... just had both heated mirrors replaced, new water pump, steering shaft fix (2 times), rear u-joint replaced, tranny fixed (1-2 clunk, 2-3 flare). Not gonna get a percentage back on my extended warranty! But it's paid for itself and then some!
