steering shaft warranty

is gm covering the intermediate steering shaft replacement/repair past 3yr/36,000? and if so how long are they covering it? a friend has a 2002 with 48,000 and its shot. thanks for any info.

The warranty is not automatically extended just because it's been a problem. They take each one on a case by case basis but SHOULD cover it.

First it was lube them, then it was replace them, now GM wants us to lube them again. I alway found that lubing last as long as replacing them. Be sure to use the new # P/N 26098419. I don't think it can be warrantied.
