Changed Engine filter and Greased truck

Well i have had a new engine filter sitting in my room for over a month.  Have a day off (no finals today) so i decided to change it.  Took the old one out and it was only dirty in one corner.  I thought for sure it would have been dirtier.  However under the filter there was all kind of sand/dirt/few leaves/ and water.  Sucked all of it out with a wet/dry vac.

Next moved on to greasing the underneath (zerks) of the truck.  Couldnt believe how filthy the under neath was.  Guess that park i drove through a few wks ago was muddy hehehe.  Had trouble with one fitting.  The one by the drivers side wheel.  The lowest one.  I got the noxxle on there gave it 3 squirts and none went in.  The boot isnt filled all the way.  Tried a few more times same thing happened grease all over.  Could a zerk be stripped like a screw?  I could get the gun on there but nothing would go in.

Well i got 10/11 i guess

Next is the fuel filter which ill do in a few days or a wk

I just greased mine on Sunday.  I had the same problem...with the same zerk.  I just pulled the coupling off, wiped the zerk down and tried it again.  This time I held the coupling tightly to the zerk and it worked fine.  Sometimes if the coupling is not tight on the zerk, the grease won't go in. :D

having greased planes over 500 times at least with about 130 zerks (same type as on our trucks) on each plane ive gotten fimiliar with that problem easist way is hold the gun as tight as you can on the zerk and try and wiggle it a little if it still isnt going in , if that doesnt work try taking a pin and cleaning out the tip of the zerk. if that doesnt work take the zerk off and either clean it while it off or replace it should be pretty cheap to replace

The zerk was spotless and i had the nozzle firmly on it.  WOuldnt take any grease

Ill probably change it out completely since i have a toolbox full of zerks (90s 45s etc)

also a good tip that a mechanic told me is to leave the grease on the zerk when you are done. It reduces corrosion I used to wipe all the excess grease off the zerks when i was done, but since i live in Cleveland, OH they would rust up and wouldn't work the next time i went to grease them

Just completed the second service yesterday (3012 miles).

Drained the crankcase, new AC filter, greased all

fittings , filled the washer and coolant, set tire pressure, added six quarts Valvoline 10w30 (Summer), and safety checked the truck. Don't forget the spare.
