07 interior

I do not know how I would feel about a built in break controller.... I do not know how ford work, but my Prodigy would be hard to beat.... set it and then forget it... nice and smooth stops...

I like the new interior... looks pretty functional, as well as a step up in fit/finish. Also notice how there is still a floor shift transfer case as well as the range select buttons on the shift lever. Very cool...

Looks like the same interior as the new '07 Tahoe/Suburban/Avalance,Which ain't that bad at all

The mirrors look like they have undergone a redesign too, look at the constant slope of that mirror vs. the sudden turn of the 800 mirror.

Also if you look at the far edge of the picture you can see the ENOURMOUS fender wells

So we shall see what they look like

From what little can be seen, it looks fine. Two things though, the handle on the door that you would close the door with looks a bit akward, but the angle of the shot is not a good one for that handle and second, is there another button on the gear selector stick other than the "tow/haul" on the end? Look just above the spoke on the steering wheel.

That is the range selector or the gears.... This is new on the 6-speed Allison.... This makes me want to say if this truck has the Allison, and it really is a 1500HD then maybe the 6.0l will be able to get the Allison.

or they have added the range selection to the Gasser transmission

Or it could be they have a smaller diesel in the truck.... gets you wondering

Maybe I missed it. Where did it say 1500HD? I do know that the new Escalades with the 403HP 6.0 have a range select tranny. I was under the impression that the 6l80E and 6l85E would have range select for 07. The half ton SUV's got left out and still have a 4l60E. 08 half tons will be equipped w/ 6 speed autos.

I would guess that all trucks will have the tap shift type lever, not just ones with Allison. That way there's just one part to install at the factory.

I guess I am lost. What is a tap shift selector?

How about a range shift tranny??

I guess I have been pretty busy in the shop and in the field and I have missed something.

Anyone help out a guy in the dark??

Two terms, one meaning. GM calls it "Range Mode Select". Available on 06 DMax/8.1L equipped with Allison. New 07 Escy's, Denali's, 3/4 burbs with 6.0 have 6l80e or 6l85e with range select. Tap shift is just the way you shift. The gear indicator looks as follows "P RNDM" The "M" stands for mode or manual, I am not sure. Anyways when the "M" is selected the gears are selected using a +/- "tapper" on the column shifter. Just an electronic way to shift or limit gears. I also think it can hold a gear rather than allowing the tranny to downshift. I have a buddy who has an 06 DMax and he said he likes the extra overdrive, but has not seen the advantage of it, even when towing. Rather than disable overdrive with the button like mine he justs shifts to "M" and selects 4th gear and it does the exact same thing but with one more step involved. I don't know. I would like one more overdrive though. The bulky column shifter I would rather do without.

One gripe i've had with my '05, was the HVAC vent in the middle to the right of the radio. It seems to blow out more air than the other vents, and doesn't have the option to decrease or increase the amount of air flow like the other three vents. As a result a passenger in the middle was usually uncomfortable. Perhaps this new configuration will address that problem.
