SnakeEyeSS Posted May 18, 2002 Posted May 18, 2002 There are these white marks all over the bed of my truck on the drivers side. They almost look like surface scratches, but they have no depth to them to the touch. Waxing dosen't hide them either. They fell smooth, and cant figure out ecaxtly what it is, or how to get it off. You think a clay bar would work? I'm about 3 weeks away from wax-time.
carguru Posted May 18, 2002 Posted May 18, 2002 Are the marks round or are they scratch like (long and have no width) The only things I can think of that would be like that are water marks (from rain, etc) or pet/fingernail scratches (light scratches usually leave no depth). You can try the clay bar first, but it is likely not going to help much. You might have to use a product like 3M swirl mark remover and wax afterwards.
SnakeEyeSS Posted May 18, 2002 Author Posted May 18, 2002 I used Zymol Clreaner wax, wghich did a good job of removing swirl marks, but it didn't do much for these wierd white marks. They aren't swirl, they look like NOT-straight key scratches, I guess I'll just have to live with them until I get it repainted in a few years.
anealysr Posted May 19, 2002 Posted May 19, 2002 I just bought a 1998 GMC Z71 and have the same white marks in the bed of mine. I thought maybe something being hauled in the bed rubbed them on. I sprayed some BleachWhite on them and used a medium bristle brush to scrub them and they came off. Lots of elbow grease but they will come off. Didn't seem to hurt the finish.
SnakeEyeSS Posted May 19, 2002 Author Posted May 19, 2002 the marks on mine are on the out side of the bed, on the side, gonna go mess with them now
