kept up with a SS!!!!!!!

hey well i get off the freeway theres an SS all blacked out and stuff with a dual turn down flowmaster...we both get to the light and i hit tow hall we both took off i walked him off the line untill about 55mph and he got besides me and was about 1/4 of a car length ahead of me...i dunno how the hell i did it but i did...my trucks a 2000 5.3 with drop in k&N and flowmaster 50 series with a turn down...thats all and oversized tires too...im positive he had it floored i could hear it winding out...good day for me it made me feel good

Well I'm not trying to say I doubt you, but he should of walked off the line from you with that AWD. But you also would of been faster if you kept the Tow/Haul off. It causes you to shift to early.

Yeah those SS have some power, but that AWD really hogs that power. I've never beat one in my Z71, but I have beat them a couple times in my Dodge. Also lost a couple with my Dodge.

hey haha im not sure but he might have had a black 5.3 silverado with SS body kit and stuff on it....it was an 04 all blacked out haha...

That may have been the case. I recently visited my parents and they own an 05 Escalade. I had to run to town and ended up side by side with a kid in an ext cab 1500 Z71. It was a 99-02 5.3L (I assumed because it was an LT, and they are all equipped with the 5.3L). After the first light, I decided, what the he!! and gave him two light-to-light runs. He could not touch me. I got a truck length just out of the hole and gained another half to the next block. The SS and the Escy are the same power train and drive train wise, and actually the SS is a little lighter. I am not saying you didn't beat a true SS, because they are not as fast as they should be. Just my experience between the two motors.

I have an 04 sierra 5.3 extended cab z71 and raced a silverado with an ss body kit and got him by one truck lenght.I jumped him off the line then held one lenght for about 1/4 mile.I thaught it was an ss at first but turned out to be body kit but it was still a d**n nice truck.
