Dynomax Bullets, they are between a glasspack and straight pipes on loudness, but are deep and throaty like a Flowmaster.

x2 for Flowmaster.

I love the sound from mine. Even though mine is not loud, there are other Flowmaster that definitely are.

Just realized this is a really old post. Oh well, still has meaning.

x3 for Flowmaster. Super 44s to be exact. See my sig for video.

If you have the 5.3L though they dont sound too bad with no mufflers, but really really loud.

Had flowmaster on my old V6 Dodge and made it sound like a V8, but after hearing the stock sound of my 08 SD Im just going to leave the muffler alone, maybe replace the tail pipe on how it exits at the rear give it a dual exhaust look, but the sound is beautiful.

Gibson exhaust systems sound pretty nice as well as dynomax. Your best bet is to find some people with different ones on their trucks and just listen. Glass Packs sound like crap IMHO, and Cherry Bombs to. Straight Pipe i could go either way.

I like the tone of glasspacks, but every time I hear one, it seems as if it is at the end of it's life span. So I guess this is a question. Do they deteriorate faster than "normal" mufflers?

I have true dual straight pipes on my 5.3, I dont really think its too loud unless you just really have your foot in it, i think it soulds nicer than some trucks with expensive mufflers on the, but thats jmo.

Yes, glasspacks are "packed" with fiber "glass" that eventually blows out. IIRC, the fibers in Bullets are wound around the perforated pipe, so they don't blow out as easily.

I have had the Flowmaster Big Block Series (is that a 70?) on 3 Chevys now...not too loud, sounds great!

There are two big block series of mufflers, a 50 and a 70. The 50BB is bigger to help quiet interior resonance in large cabins. (according to Flowmaster) The 70 is smaller but still big so that it can move a lot of volume.
